A Cup of Sweetness

It's berry season and this cup of sweetness is filled with California strawberries. Some fun facts about strawberries.....

🍓The next full moon in June is called the Strawberry Moon because it marks the spring and summer harvesting time of strawberries! 

🍓About 90% of the strawberries grown in the United States are harvested in California!  

The mild temperatures and endless sunshine makes California the ideal climate for growing strawberries.  There are acres of strawberry fields throughout the California coastline, from Santa Cruz to San Diego, and some strawberry farms date back to the 1800s!  The California Strawberry Commission has a wonderful post on the history of strawberry farming in California.  And for those backyard farmers, the Old Farmer's Almanac has some helpful tips on growing strawberries at home.
