The Oscars are Coming!

The grand finale of the Hollywood awards season will conclude this weekend when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents the 96th Academy Awards. On March 10, 2024. Oscar awards will be presented for best achievements in an array of motion picture categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. 

Growing up near Hollywood, the reverence for movie making was effervescent and I watch the Academy Awards every year, including all the pre-shows that begin around 12pm!  The entire day is devoted to the Oscars and celebrating the love of cinema!  

Whether you live near Tinseltown or on the other side of the world, here are some fun ways to celebrate Oscar Week. 

  1. Get dressed up like the movie stars and attend an Oscar watch party. 
  2. Create your own Oscar party at home with Oscar party style cocktails and Hors d'oeurves.  
  3. Watch the movies nominated for Best Picture.
  4. Watch 31 Days of Oscar on Turner Classic Movies. 
  5. Read about the history of the Academy Awards. 
  6. Visit the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences museum.
  7. Visit a movie studio. 
  8. Spend a night at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel where the first Academy Awards were presented in 1929.
  9. Visit Ovation Hollywood and tour the Dolby Theatre, home of the annual Academy Awards, and the legendary Chinese Theater.
  10. Dine at Musso & Franks, where the movie stars have been dining since 1919.
