Basket of Hearts
Just in time for Valentine's Day, these pretty fabric hearts were made from pieces of old fabric and embellished with leftover lace or beaded trim or old buttons. It's a very frugal and simple craft project that requires just a few simple steps.
Supplies
- Fabric to cut 20 hearts ~ preferably red patterns ~ but you can use any color fabric
- Paper or cardboard to make the heart pattern
- Needle & thread
- Scissors
- Sewing machine (optional)
- Cotton for stuffing the hearts
- Any decorative elements such as lace, buttons, trim.
Steps to Make 10 Hearts
- I used a piece of paper to make a heart pattern. You can make any size heart you like.
- Then I used the heart pattern to cut 20 fabric hearts.
- I used a sewing machine (but you can easily use a needle and thread) to sew together the edges of two pieces of the heart shaped fabric, but left about a two inch opening to stuff the heart with cotton stuffing.
- After stuffing the heart, I finished sewing the edges.
- Then, I used a needle and thread to add decorative elements to the heart, such as old buttons, left over lace or trim.
- Repeat steps 3 to 6 for the remaining hearts.
