It's Berry Season!

🍓Berries are the most cherished springtime and summertime fruits and they have been a valuable food source for thousands of years.  They are truly earth's sweet and colorful confectionery.  The peak harvest seasons for berries are the warm spring and summer months between May to September.  There are many varieties of berries, but some of the most common and popular are strawberries, boysenberries, blueberries, and raspberries. They are not just sweet and delicious, but they are powerfully nutritious too.  They are low in calories and filled with antioxidants, fiber and many vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C and potassium. They can be eaten as snacks, preserved as jams or jellies, added to deserts and salads, and make tantalizing and beautiful culinary embellishments.  They have been documented in recipes and journals dating back to ancient times and they continue to be enjoyed and appreciated worldwide! 🍓
